Grace Lily Evans

the dust prepares to settle within the corners of my body –
easing tenderly, and yet
with a ferocious precision.
my tongue surges with the density of words found
in every sunlit speck. i resist the thirst
to speak, but my throat is bound
in burdensome leather, plaster of palimpsest and ink swathing the skin,
just to hide away the disorder which has sent me
to depart from the world i knew, and to venture
into dimensions seen only by the mind’s eye.
